Our Story
EmpowerEd was designed around one guiding principle – survivors deserve to have someone in their corner that believes them, is biased in their favor, and is equipped to support them through every step of an investigation.

We believe survivors – and we believe they deserve more than just impartial and non-biased guidance as they choose how to respond to a victimization. At EmpowerEd, we are committed to providing trauma-informed, survivor-centered advising that equips individuals with the information, support, and confidence they need to make informed decisions that are right for them.

What Makes Us Different
We don’t walk the line of neutrality—we stand with survivors.
When looking for advisors within the Title IX and student conduct landscape, you’ll find companies that focus on their impartiality and their service to both complainants (often the victims) and respondents (often the offenders), or defense attorneys who are most frequently representing the accused. This lack of survivor-specific advising is what motivated our founder to launch EmpowerEd—a company specifically designed to help fill that gap. Although we recognize the need for impartial professionals and non-biased investigations, we at EmpowerEd also believe that survivors deserve to have access to advisors who are biased in their favor and are specifically trained to serve a survivor’s needs throughout these challenging processes.

EmpowerEd is here to advocate for survivors, empower their choices, and support them on their unique path to healing and justice.
At EmpowerEd, we are passionate about ensuring that survivors have access to the guidance and support they need, beyond what an institution may be able to provide. We ensure that survivors are paired with an advisor who not only understands the nuances of Title IX and the specific conduct policies at their campus, but who also knows how to effectively advocate for survivor needs within these processes.
As federal policies and regulations continue to evolve, we are committed to staying ahead of the curve and continually adapting to better serve survivors. We will continue to prioritize thoroughly knowing each survivor's case, facilitating the informed decision-making for those we serve, and providing personalized and expert guidance every step of the way. Whether filing an initial complaint, preparing for cross-examination, or filing an appeal – a survivor doesn’t need to do it alone.

Our Founder

Megan Deremiah
Founder & CEO
Throughout her career, Megan Deremiah has witnessed the challenges survivors face in navigating complex institutional processes, often without the clarity or support they need to make informed decisions. In an effort to combat the noticeable lack of survivor-specific advising services within higher education, she founded EmpowerEd - Survivor Advocacy & Consulting. The company is built upon her commitment to providing clear, honest, and comprehensive guidance to survivors, ensuring that they feel fully informed and equipped to choose the path that is best for them.

Megan holds a Master’s Degree in Higher Education, led survivor services on a university campus for nearly a decade, and has supported countless individuals through their Title IX and student conduct investigations. Following that, she worked for a law firm where she trained attorneys on trauma-informed care and provided consultation related to survivor safety and resources.
